Montrose County Human Services Earns Second Consecutive Distinguished Performance Award, Department Achieves Highest C-Stat Score to Date
MONTROSE, Colo. - Montrose County Human Services has once again been recognized by the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) with the C-Stat Distinguished Performance Award, marking the second consecutive year the department has earned the honor.
Montrose County achieved a C-Stat score of 84% for 2025, the highest score in the county’s history. The annual award recognizes counties for strong performance in delivering critical human services, with an emphasis on timeliness, safety and accuracy.
“Receiving this award for the second year in a row and achieving our highest score ever is a tremendous reflection of the work our team does every day,” said Jennifer Sherwood, Director of Montrose County Human Services. “These measures represent much more than numbers. They reflect our commitment to making sure people receive the services and support they need accurately and on time. I’m incredibly proud of our staff and their continued dedication to the people of Montrose County.”
Montrose County met its C-Stat goals in several key performance areas, including:
- Child Support Services (CSS): Timeliness of Review & Adjustment
- Division of Economic and Workforce Support (DEWS): Timeliness of New Adult Financial Applications
- DEWS: Timeliness of New Colorado Works Applications
- DEWS: Timeliness of Colorado Works Redeterminations
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP): Application Processing Time
- SNAP Recertification Processing Time
- DCW Father Engagement Contacts Required Monthly
Meeting these benchmarks helps ensure Montrose County residents can access essential services when they need them, from food and financial assistance to child support and other programs that help individuals and families achieve greater stability and independence.
C-Stat is CDHS’s performance management system used in partnership with counties across Colorado to measure outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen the delivery of human services. Montrose County’s second consecutive Distinguished Performance Award reflects the department’s continued focus on measurable results and quality service to the community.
The Montrose County Board of County Commissioners congratulates the Human Services team on this outstanding achievement. Earning this recognition for the second consecutive year, along with a record C-Stat score, demonstrates the department’s strong performance and the positive impact its employees make throughout Montrose County.
